Scrubs

Herbal spas are all the rage now, with salts, soaks and scrubs. These are expensive items to buy, but you can make them at home with common ingredients.

RITA'S SPECIAL SPA SALTS

Dry milk is a soothing ingredient. Essential oil is a fragrance available at craft stores. Epsom salt is found in the pharmacy aisle. A little more or less of any ingredient is OK.

Basic Recipe:
1 cup Epsom salt
1/4 cup baking soda
¼ cup sea salt
1/4 cup nonfat dry milk (opt)
Now here's the fun part. You can add any of these other optional ingredients:
2-3 tablespoons favorite dried sweet herb, like mint, lavender, lemon verbena, rose geranium, etc.
¼ cup regular (not instant) oats, run through a blender
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon ground flaxseed
A few drops essential oil or a tiny bit of vanilla, lemon or almond extract are also good if you don't have herbs.
To use, pour ¼ cup into a hot bath.
