RITA’S “CLONED” CHEESE BISCUITS LIKE RED LOBSTER

Wow! When I put out a call asking for cloned recipes you’d like to see on the air, Red Lobster Biscuits came out as the number one request.

And no wonder, these cheese biscuits are easy, quick and really tasty. Now they’re supposed to look “bumpy” and are best eaten right away. The biscuit mix used is similar to Bisquick.

I have not tried this with the low fat biscuit mix, but imagine it would work well.

2 cups biscuit mix (I use Kroger’s)
½ teaspoon or so garlic powder
generous ½ cup shredded cheddar
1 stick melted butter or margarine
2/3 cup milk

Preheat oven to 450. Mix biscuit mix, garlic powder and cheddar together. Add milk and mix until dry ingredients are moistened. Mixture will be sticky.

If it’s too dry, add a bit more milk. Drop dough into 10-12 mounds on sprayed cookie sheets and brush generously with melted butter. Bake 8-10 minutes until these Red Lobster Biscuits are golden brown. Brush on additional butter if you like.

TIPS FROM RITA’S KITCHEN:

Use an ice cream scoop to portion out the dough for these Red Lobster Biscuits.
