As usual, Dan Glier and the Goetta folks have put together not only a cookbook, but a local history lesson, as well.

Instead of the sliced cheddar, go ahead and use shredded - it's easier.

1 pound ea: Glier's goetta, ground beef and cheddar cheese, sliced
1 onion, diced
Dash of oregano
1 loaf party rye

Brown beef with crumbled goetta and onion. Drain off fat and season with salt, pepper and oregano. Put sliced cheddar onto mixture and stir until cheese is melted. Spoon onto bread and bake 8-10 minutes at 350

Is any place more famous for Goetta than Glier's?
