EASY & ELEGANT TABLE DECORATIONS WITH CANDLES, COFFEE
AND MORE!
One gift item that is at the top of the list this year is candles. In
every shape, size and aroma.
Sometimes candles come with their own holders. More often,
they don’t.
Today’s segment is a fun one – using candles
in an unusual, decorative, fun way to enhance your party's
theme.
The cool thing is that these candles take on a whole new look,
both funky and elegant, just by putting them on items you probably
already have on hand: chargers, plates, soap dishes, etc. and using pantry
foods
as “anchors” for the candles, like cranberries, coffee
beans, pasta, and the like.
COFFEE AND CANDLE CENTERPIECE
3-5 pillar candles of various heights and diameters, or all one height
in different colors
1 platter, 12” in diamter
1 pound coffee beans
Small nuts in their shell (opt)
1 yard ribbon (opt)
Greenery and flowers left over from fresh flower table decorations
(opt)
Arrange candles on platter. Pour coffee beans and nuts around candles.
Decorate with ribbon or fresh greenery and flowers.
VARIATIONS ON THIS THEME:
Instead of coffee beans:
Tiny christmas ball ornaments in any color
Gilded pinecones and evergreen sprigs
Fresh cranberries
Decorating sugar in your favorite color
Red and Green pistachios
Kumquats
PASTA & MORE CANDLES
3-5 pillar candles of various heights, colors or all one color
1 pound bag colored pasta
Wire ribbon
Greenery and fresh flowers (opt)
1 charger or large plate/platter, 12” or more in diameter
Arrange candles on platter. Follow above directions for pouring pasta
around candles and decorating with greenery, etc.
INDIVIDUAL CANDLES FOR PLACECARDS
Small apples, lemons or oranges
Small votive candles, your choice of colors
Bits of greenery and flowers
If using apples, they’ll stay more stable if you use them upside
down. You’ll have to pull the stem off. Hollow out the top large
enough to place a votive candle about half way into the hollowed out
section. Push bits of greenery around the candle, being careful to not
come up to close to the wick.
WINE GLASS CANDLES WITH HERBS
These are really pretty, and so simple! Use as many of these as you
like to decorate your table, using wine glasses of different sizes.
For each one:
1 wine glass, large enough to hold a votive candle and holder
1 votive candle
1 votive candle holder
Sprig of Rosemary, Savory, Dill, etc. or bits of greenery and tiny
flowers or flower petals
Water
Place a candle holder in the wine glass and insert candle. Pour a small
amount of water around the candle holder into the bottom of the glass.
This will keep your greenery fresh. Arrange herbs in a circular fashion
around the candle holder, letting them touch the water.
