Chocolate MousseFIVE MINUTE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE FOR KARENThe caller was polite, but a bit frantic,“I’m a new cook with very little time and a small budget. I want to serve my husband a dessert made with chocolate. He loves chocolate! Do you have a quick and easy, yet knock-em-dead recipe that, hopefully, can be made ahead? I catch you when you’re on the noon show so if you could do something then, that would be perfect.” Well, Karen, it just happens that I do have a recipe that fits the bill. It’s a five-minute chocolate mousse that is so versatile you will love having it in your repertoire. The recipe originated from the KitchenAid people and I adapted it and used this many times – sometimes as a simple mousse for the kids, often as a more sophisticated layer dessert in wine glasses. It even makes a scrumptious filling for hollowed out pound or angel food cake. It can even be piled into a baked or graham cracker crust pie shell and frozen to make chocolate mousse pie! Now if you have any requests or would like me to try and clone your favorite restaurant recipe, you can call or email me In a mixing bowl, dissolve: Now add: Whip until light. That’s it! Top with chocolate shavings, ground chocolate, chocolate syrup, your favorite liqueur, fresh fruit, whipped cream, whatever suits you. Good Add Ins: Make a lovely layered mousse by layering the mousse with whipped cream and berries in a stemmed glass. Or make a large layered trifle with pound or angel food cake slices, mousse, whipped cream, fruit, etc. (double the recipe if making a trifle). FIVE MINUTE CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
