Baked BeansWORLD'S BEST BARBEQUED BAKED BEANSIs there a picnic on July 4 that doesn't include baked beans? Don't think so. But baked beans don't have to be boring. Elevate them to new heights with this recipe which is one of my most requested picnic side dishes. 2 cans pork and beans, 16 oz ea. Mix everything together, including a bit of bacon grease (or leave
out if you prefer). Pour into two quart sprayed casserole. Bake in 350
degree oven about 40-60 minutes, until bubbly and no longer real runny.
TIPS FROM RITA'S KITCHEN:Why eat beans? Well, they're cancer-fighting, low-cost and good tasting. Beans are low in fat and contain no cholesterol. They're high in dietary fiber, protein, carbs - did you know that one cup provides more than half the daily audlt requirement of complex carbs? The high carb content means calorites taken in are burned up quickly and converted into usable energy. Complex carbs are digested and absorbed into the body more slowly than simple carbs and can control hunger for longer pierods. They're also and rich in B vitamins and other nutrients. Plus they're low in sodium!!! Read Labels! Some beans are processed with sugar in various forms. Rinse off if necessary and drain before using. You'll love these Baked Beans.
