Homemade Baked Beans

COWBOY HOMEMADE BAKED BEANS & SAUSAGE
A new twist on an old favorite. So economical, too. I like to serve this over rice.

8 oz. smoked sausage links or frankfurters, sliced ½” thick
1-1/2 cups coarsely chopped onions
¾ to 1 cup barbecue sauce
2 tablespoons each pancake syrup and water
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 can ea. 15-16 oz, red kidney, pinto and black beans, rinsed
Sliced green onions

Over medium heat, cook sausage about 3 minutes, until brown.

Remove to a bowl. Add onions to drippings in skillet, cover, and cook until tender, about 10 minutes.

Add barbecue sauce, syrup, water and vinegar; bring to a boil. Stir in beans and sausage. Heat, covered, 15 minutes, stirring often for flavors to blend. Sprinkle with scallions and serve.

Four Servings with these Homemade Baked Beans.
